Skin Course Outline

Anatomy, Physiology and Skin Course for Tattoo and Body Piercing Practitioners

The course is designed to take about 4 – 7 hours of private (at home) training,  and 45 – 60 additional minutes for the written test (50 questions, multiple choices). The students need 38 correct answers to pass the test with a 76% (C+) grade.

Even before registering for the test, each student should download and study a free proprietary workbook (in .pdf format, posted in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, on the Introduction page) with information and color drawings about the integumentary (skin) system (including hair, nails, sweat and oil glands), skeletal system, muscular system, circulatory system, respiratory system, digestive system, nervous system, urinary system, reproductive system, endocrine system. Diabetes Mellitus is also included in the workbook, as are some skin diseases. A special part of the training is dedicated to specific health risks due to tattooing and body piercing. Allergies, bacterial and viral infections are also discussed. Different ink color components can have side effects – and they are also discussed in class.

The workbook contains several suggested website links (prepared at college level) which explain in details the above subjects. Each student is strongly encouraged to check out the links, in order to better understand (and remember for the test) the things presented.

The materials are based on the following:
