Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. I only need the Skin Course part (with Skin diseases, disorders and conditions) – not the Anatomy and Physiology part. Can I take just that portion?

At this time we only offer the full course (Anatomy and Physiology, Diabetes, Skin Diseases, Disorders and Conditions, or, as we call it, “The Skin Course), and on your certificate it will say you passed both parts – Anatomy and Physiology, and the Skin diseases part. You need to take the full training for this certification.

2. Is this course approved by my Board of Health?

That’s an excellent question – and we don’t know the answer (but they do). Call them and ask them before you register for the course. Feel free to ask them, and have them contact us, if they want. We posted some info here – and you can print the .pdf workbook for the training. Feel free to share the file with them. We will be happy to work with any Board of Health to accommodate their requirements in our training.

3. Are the questions difficult?

Not if you did study. The test has 50 multiple-choice questions, each worth two (2) points. In order to pass, you need to correctly answer at least 38 of them for a 76% (C+) grade. We don’t print your score on the certificate.

4. How long is the certificate good for? Do I need to renew it?

The certificate has no expiration date. In Massachusetts you currently don’t need to renew it, but other states might have different rules. Check with the Board of Health in the city (or town) you plan to work.

5. Why do you ask for my name, email, and telephone number?

We need to know what name should we print on the certificate (so that we can give it to you at the end of the training, if you passed the test). Sometimes another person might pay for you, and we can’t guess your name. We need your email to communicate with you if we have questions or changes. We do NOT sell (nor share, nor give away) your information. We need your contact phone number just in case of last-minute changes, specially during winter.

6. So, how can I get in contact with you?

Call us – best number is (413) 824-9581. Again, I might not be able to answer right away, because I do not answer the phone while I am teaching. Feel free to leave a message, and I will call you back at my earliest convenience (could be a couple of hours later, sometimes). If you prefer to text, it’s OK – but don’t expect texting back – I am not good at texting, I use the phone to speak.

7. If I change my mind after paying, can I have a full refund?

Yes, if you let us know at least 24 hours before the test expiration date. No testing in the 30 days provided will forfeit the refund. Please check our refund policy here. and note that PayPal does NOT refund the fee they charge (about $5). No refund will be given if you did not take the test during the 30 days the link was available to you, but in special circumstances we might allow you to still take the test after the 30 original days. Call us!

8. Are there prerequisites for the course?

Yes. You need to study on your own.  The free workbook in .pdf file in several languages, together with some suggested links to videos related to each chapter is linked to the registration page. You SHOULD make time to read the workbook, and watch the suggested videos, (they are available for free even before you register) or any videos you chose related to each chapter. There is a lot of information – you might need about 4 – 7 hours to prepare before the training, but you can divide the time as necessary. Each video suggested is about 12 – 15 minutes long.

9. What happens if I don’t have time to prepare before the test?

Your chances to pass the test are slim to zero. We failed a few (very few, fortunately!) participants who did not study enough, and intend to continue to do so.

10. If I fail, can I re-take the class?

Absolutely – but why take the chance? If you prepare in advance, (feel free to ask questions!), you should certainly pass the test. If you fail, you may test again (after paying AGAIN).
