Anatomy and Skin Course for Tattoo and Body Piercing Practitioners
Date: Monday, April 29, 2019
Location: Greenfield, MA
According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, all applicants for Body Art Practitioner Permit must provide documentation of a completed course on anatomy (for body piercing practitioner) or skin diseases, disorders and conditions, including diabetes (for tattoo practitioner).
Each town’s Board of Health has the right to establish the requirements for their town, and the model provided by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health suggests an anatomy and physiology course for a body piercing practitioner, and a course on skin diseases, disorders and conditions, including diabetes, for a tattoo practitioner.
Some Boards of Health require both courses for each Body Art Practitioner permit. Some towns specifically require the anatomy and physiology courses to be completed at an accredited College or University.
Please check with the Board of Health in the town you want to work as a Body Art Practitioner to see if they mandate a College course (we are not an accredited College) before you register for the training.
In collaboration with Collaborative Care, we plan to offer the 6-hours course in anatomy and physiology. We also offer the First Aid + CPR + AED certification, plus the Blood borne (and Airborne) Pathogens certificate, as mandated by OSHA. You can register for either course (if you want) even before the Skin course.
Additional information will be provided as we have it, hopefully by the end of March 2019.
